VW Name First ID. Model
It's the first model in the all-electric family
Volkswagen have revealed the name for the first vehicle in their ID. family of all-electric vehicles. The ID. 3 will be a Golf-sized EV and the range will have a starting price below €30,000 in Germany.
An ID. 3 1st special edition model will go on sale in Germany with a starting price of under €40,000 with a high level of equipment. The special edition is limited to 30,000 vehicles and will be equipped with the mid-range battery. The spec of the 1st includes voice control, sat nav, IQ.Light and a bi-colour exterior and interior design.
The three battery options offer a potential range from 330 to 550 kilometres, with the median option able to go 420km on a charge.
Both the battery and ID. family production is aimed at being carbon neutral, with the consistent use of renewable power sources. VW has said that unavoidable emissions are to be offset by certified climate projects.
Production of the ID. 3 is scheduled to begin in late 2019, with deliveries starting next year. If the domestic German prices are anything to go by, then the entry ID. 3 will be priced from roughly £26,000. UK residents keen on getting near the front of the queue can do so by registering their interest, with a deposit of £750.
